
Dr. Yama Torabi is a Senior Research Associate and a political scientist. He holds two master degrees (Political Science and International Relations) and a PhD from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris (International Relations). His focus is on international interventions, state-building, peacebuilding, security, governance and anticorruption.
Dr. Torabi is an anti-corruption expert and an Afghan civil society activist, being the founder of Integrity Watch Afghanistan, which he directed between from 2009 to 2014. His work as a commissioner and rotating chair of the Joint Independent Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (MEC) between 2012 and 2017 has allowed him to look at governance practice, policy and challenges of a broad range of sectors in Afghanistan. Torabi’s current work as an independent consultant focuses on subnational governance, security sector reform, extractive industries, development aid and civil society empowerment.
